ProWein 2025 in Düsseldorf is set to be a significant event for Sicilian wine producers. This major wine, spirits, and alcoholic beverages fair will take place from March 16 to 18. It will feature around six thousand exhibitors from four hundred wine-growing regions and attract over 50,000 industry professionals worldwide. Sicilian wine companies, represented by Assovini Sicilia, will participate in the Sicily Area, managed by the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (Irvo).
The event will highlight the Innonda project, a research initiative focused on sustainable and innovative winemaking strategies for Nero d'Avola wine. This project is a collaboration between Assovini Sicilia, the University of Milan, and four member companies. A press conference about Innonda is scheduled for March 17 at 11:30 in Hall 16/F69 IRVO.
Participation in ProWein is crucial for Sicilian wine companies, emphasizing the importance of wine exports for the region. A report by the University of Messina shows that Europe is the primary export market for 95.7% of these companies, indicating strong integration with the continent.
Mariangela Cambria, president of Assovini Sicilia, stated that ProWein offers a unique commercial opportunity for their wineries. The goal is to promote the quality of Sicilian wines in foreign markets, despite challenges like tariffs and declining consumption. Cambria believes that Sicilian wine can succeed globally through its quality and variety.
Several Assovini Sicilia wineries will be present at ProWein. Those located at Hall 16/F69 IRVO include Alessandro di Camporeale, Baglio di Pianetto, Baglio Oro, Feudo Solaria, Firriato, and Tenute Nicosia. Other participating wineries are Cusumano, CVA Canicattì, Donnafugata, Duca di Salaparuta, Gorghi Tondi, Musita, Planeta, Rallo, Cantine Settesoli, Dei Principi di Spadafora, and Cantine Pellegrino.
ProWein 2025 promises to be a pivotal event for Sicilian wine producers, offering a platform to showcase their products and strengthen their presence in international markets.
