9th July marks a significant milestone for the Cesari family as they expand their horizons with the inauguration of Locanda in Case Vecie, a haven nestled in the picturesque Valpolicella hills. Welcoming wine connoisseurs, outdoor adventure seekers, and general tourists, this grand opening also coincides with the launch of a new wine label, Garda Garganega Picol de Legno, exclusive to the Locanda.

Stefano Cesari expresses immense pride in this endeavor, viewing it as a major progression for their family. The Locanda provides a unique gateway for visitors to explore the depths of Brigaldara's wine-making world, especially the microcosm of Case Vecie. The location, a strategic blend of food and wine tourism, sports, and natural beauty, allows guests to immerse themselves in the Cesari family's passions. It is designed to make them feel at home, sharing the wonders of their beautiful homeland.

Locanda in Case Vecie: a homely abode amidst nature

Positioned in the lush woodlands of Case Vecie, the Locanda comprises two apartments, accommodating 4/6 and 2/4 people. The aesthetic of these residences is intentionally minimalistic and traditional, reflecting the enchanting surroundings. Services range from simple meals and snacks to a diverse array of tasting experiences that guide visitors through Brigaldara's wine selection.

Cyclists will find ample provisions for parking, and numerous trails are available for trekking, making the most of the natural landscape. The Locanda is conveniently located near the Val Borago nature trail, enabling guests to explore stunning water-formed canyons and venture along the renowned "Dorsale delle Cinque Valli" trail, traversing multiple valleys. With Verona just 10 km away, city visits are an easy and enjoyable hike through the woods.

Catering to local and international visitors alike

As Lamberto Cesari emphasizes, the proximity to Verona positions the Locanda as a coveted destination for both local and foreign tourists. It serves as an intimate hub for those seeking to understand Brigaldara in depth and discover this unique region of Veneto. Whether it's for a quick weekend escape or a longer stay, Case Vecie is primed to provide an exceptional experience.

Case Vecie: A high-altitude wine wonderland

Brigaldara's innovative agricultural project, Case Vecie, emerges from a dream to cultivate a wine region deeply ingrained in a high-altitude ecosystem. This 65-hectare natural microcosm is dotted with 9 hectares of vineyards, proudly perched on Grezzana's high hills. Case Vecie saw its resurrection in the late 1990s when once neglected areas were revived and transformed into vineyards. It now boasts a vivid landscape brimming with biodiversity, featuring vast grazing spaces, fields, chestnut groves, and truffle-rich woods.

Unveiling Garda Garganega Picol de Legno: a celebration of summer

The inauguration is accompanied by the launch of the Cesari family's new label, Garda Garganega Picol de Legno. Antonio Cesari describes the wine as lively and spontaneous, revealing tantalizing hints of white peach, almond, and an intriguing citric note. Exclusively available at the Locanda, this summer wine serves as a beautiful symbol of shared outdoor moments.

Garda Garganega Picol de Legno, a vibrant amber wine, is derived from an ancient clone of Garganega grapes noted for lignification of the petiole during ripening. Late harvest enhances the wine's structure, followed by skin maceration and soft pressing of the must. The grapes are handpicked, carefully selected in the vineyard, and placed in 6kg crates for transportation. They undergo vinification—40% in barriques and 60% in stainless steel tanks, then aged for a year with bâtonnage performed twice a month. The result is an exquisite summer drink with fragrant notes of almond, vanilla, white peach, and Garganega flowers, perfect for hot summer days spent outdoors.

Brigaldara: a testament to Valpolicella's rich wine heritage

Brigaldara stands as an embodiment of Valpolicella's varied souls. The Cesari family, local to the area, are devoted to promoting the rich vineyard heritage that they own. Their team of young oenologists and academic researchers diligently work towards studying and customizing each vineyard intervention, offering a unified yet diverse approach through their different perspectives, experiences, and generations.

As they unveil the Locanda in Case Vecie and the Garda Garganega Picol de Legno, the Brigaldara family continues to enthrall wine and nature enthusiasts alike with their unwavering dedication to the art of wine-making.
