'Vino in Cifre 16' offers comprehensive insights on production, exports, and evolving consumer preferences amid industry challenges.

The Italian Wine Union (Unione Italiana Vini, UIV) has released the 16th edition of its annual statistical report, “Vino in Cifre,” providing a comprehensive overview of the global and Italian wine markets. The report was published in the first 2026 issue of Il Corriere Vinicolo, the official publication of UIV. This year’s edition was prepared by the UIV Wine Observatory in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association.

“Vino in Cifre 16” compiles data from across the wine sector, offering detailed statistics for industry professionals, institutions, and stakeholders. The publication is divided into two main sections: global and Italian markets.

The global section presents data on vineyard areas, worldwide production volumes, total and per-category consumption, and trends over the past five years. It also covers import and export figures, with breakdowns by wine type, packaging formats, and export composition for leading wine-producing countries.

The Italian section provides an in-depth look at national production potential, vineyard surface area, and stock levels. It includes statistics on production and bottling trends for DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) and IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) wines, organized by region and type. Wholesale price trends are analyzed in a dedicated subsection curated by UIV Med&a, the association representing business agents and brokers.

Italian wine trade is examined in detail by type, color, classification, packaging, destination markets, and regions of origin. The report also features a statistical focus on retail wine sales in large-scale distribution (GDO) from January to September 2025. A separate table highlights sales data for organic wines.

An appendix to this edition of Il Corriere Vinicolo includes “La Carta dei Vini,” a selection of labels from wineries participating in the Vino in Cifre 2025 editorial initiative.

Distribution of “Vino in Cifre 16” is free of charge thanks to support from Vason Group, a partner of Il Corriere Vinicolo. The full report is available for download through official channels.

The release of this statistical yearbook comes at a time when both global and Italian wine sectors are facing evolving market dynamics. Producers and traders are adapting to changes in consumer preferences, international trade flows, and regulatory frameworks. The data provided by “Vino in Cifre 16” aims to support informed decision-making across the industry as it navigates these challenges.

The annual publication has become a reference point for those seeking reliable information on wine production, consumption patterns, pricing trends, and export performance. With its detailed breakdowns and up-to-date figures, “Vino in Cifre” continues to serve as an essential tool for understanding the current state of the wine market both in Italy and worldwide.
