The domestic market in France accounted for 33% of the volume (30% in value) of these barrels, while the United States followed closely, purchasing 29% (31% in value). Italy, Spain, and Australia were also significant buyers, demonstrating the wide-reaching influence and prestige of French oak barrels.

Despite France producing more than twice as much wine as the United States, the high percentage of barrels purchased by the latter suggests a strong preference for oak-aged wines in the American market.
