Chilean Pisco Wins World’s Best Spirit Again

Bou Legado Especial 35° Guardado en Roble took top honors at the 2026 London Spirits Competition for the second straight year.

A Chilean pisco was named the world’s best for the second year in a row at one of the spirits industry’s most closely watched competitions, adding another international win for a product that producers say is helping raise the profile of the category abroad.

Bou Legado Especial 35° Guardado en Roble received two of the top honors at the 2026 London Spirits Competition: Pisco of the Year and Best Spirit from Chile. The recognition came after the brand had already won in 2025 with Bou Legado Reservado 40° Guardado en Roble, which was also named Pisco of the Year in the same contest.

The winning spirit is made entirely from Moscatel grapes and is aged in French oak barrels, a process the company says gives it a softer texture and more layered aroma. Judges in London highlighted its balance and finesse, qualities that have helped position it in the premium spirits segment.

The award adds to a run of recent results for the brand in Europe. At the Frankfurt International Trophy, Bou Legado Reservado 40° Guardado en Roble earned a Gran Oro medal with 96 points and was also named Best Chilean Spirit. The competition drew more than 3,300 samples from 47 countries and included more than 450 tasters. It was the only spirit from the Americas to receive the event’s top award.

In Berlin, Bou Legado Reservado 40° Guardado en Roble won a gold medal with 95 points, while Bou Legado Reservado 40° Blanco Original scored 91 points. The brand was also named Pisco Distillery of the Year 2026, an honor it had already received in Asia in 2025.

Fernando Bou, founder and master distiller of Bou Legado, said after receiving the award that the recognition reflected steady work and a commitment to quality. He said competing at this level required consistency across every stage of production.

Bou also pointed to the long history of pisco in Chile, saying the spirit has more than 300 years of tradition behind it and that this heritage now allows it to compete on equal footing with other global distilled beverages.
