The Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia is set to participate in Vinitaly 2026 with a comprehensive program focused on training, market development, and sustainability. The event will take place from April 12 to April 15 at Hall 2, stand G76, in Verona, Italy. The Consorzio’s agenda includes masterclasses, meetings with buyers, and institutional events aimed at highlighting the evolution of Sicilian wine and its growing presence in both national and international markets.
The program opens on Sunday, April 12, at 10:00 a.m. with a masterclass led by Chiara Giovoni titled “Grillo, a contemporary icon of the DOC Sicilia appellation.” This session is organized in collaboration with the Consorzio del Pistacchio Verde di Bronte DOP and features tastings that pair Sicilian wines with the region’s protected pistachios. The focus is on showcasing Grillo as a modern symbol of Sicilian winemaking.
On Monday, April 13, the schedule continues with several masterclasses and tasting sessions. At 11:45 a.m., Andrea Amadei will lead “Sicilia DOC and Asiago DOP: A dialogue between territories and food cultures.” This event explores pairings between Sicilian wines such as Grillo, Lucido, Nerello Mascalese, and Nero d’Avola with different ages of Asiago DOP cheese. The session aims to highlight the interplay between regional food products and wines. Later that day at 3:00 p.m., students from the University of Palermo’s Degree Course in Viticulture and Oenology will attend a training session titled “Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC: origin, evolution and expression of the terroir,” focusing on one of Sicily’s most important grape varieties.
Tuesday, April 14, marks a key moment for the Consorzio at Vinitaly. At 10:30 a.m., a conference titled “New maps of Sicilian wine: international markets in transition and new global balances” will be held at the Regional Authority meeting hall. Organized by the Regional Department of Agriculture in collaboration with Fondazione SOStain, this event brings together national and international speakers to discuss the positioning of Sicilian wines in global markets. Topics include current challenges, opportunities for growth, and strategies for increasing international recognition.
Following the conference at 12:30 p.m., winemaker Maurizio Maurizi and Professor Vincenzo Russo from IULM University’s Neuromarketing Research Centre will lead a masterclass called “Wine and territory storytelling and its effect on the brain: Silver and Gen Z compared.” This session examines how different generations perceive wine narratives and how these perceptions influence consumer behavior.
On Wednesday, April 15, at 1:00 p.m., Giuseppe Figlioli—winemaker and member of the Consorzio’s Board of Directors—will participate in a technical masterclass titled “Wines of Sicilia DOC: From indigenous grapes to international recognition.” This event is part of the Vinitaly International Academy project and is aimed at professionals seeking deeper knowledge about Sicilian grape varieties and their role in global wine markets.
Throughout Vinitaly 2026, the Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia’s stand will serve as a hub for meetings with journalists, buyers, and stakeholders. The space is designed to foster discussion about Sicilian wine’s ongoing evolution and its commitment to sustainability while maintaining strong ties to its territorial identity. The Consorzio’s presence at Vinitaly underscores its strategy to strengthen Sicily’s position as a reference point in the international wine sector.
