International event gathers leaders and experts to address innovation, policy, and challenges facing Brazil’s wine sector

São Paulo hosted the first edition of WineX Tomorrow, the International Wine Forum, on March 2 at the City Council. The event brought together leaders from the wine industry, public officials, educators, entrepreneurs, journalists, and experts in technology and public policy to discuss the future of wine. The forum was organized by Daniela Cardoso of Vinho & Você S/A and Priscilla Hennekam of Rethinking The Wine Industry. Their goal was to anticipate trends and develop strategic responses to new consumption patterns and social demands affecting the wine sector in Brazil and globally.

The forum addressed several challenges currently impacting the global wine industry. These included declining consumption in traditional markets, generational changes, evolving consumer behavior, the application of technology, and the need for innovation in established business models. Panelists included Caterina Garolafo, Gabriela Zandonadi, Nathalie Tarquet, Laurent David, Paul Mabray, Fernanda Paes de Barros, Dr. Leonardo Lourenço, Adão Morellatto, Marcelo Schneck de Paula Pessoa, Jones Valduga, Paulo Brammer, Eduardo Cruz, Julio César Kunz, and Cláudio Góes.

The opening session featured notable guests such as Vânia Claros, Consul General of Bolivia; Tânia Dias, Chief of Staff at the State Secretariat for Economic Development; and Priscila Bornschlegell, CEO of Born Commerce International. During the event, organizers highlighted the recent approval of a bill authored by Daniela Cardoso in São Paulo’s City Council. The legislation establishes a Municipal Day for Innovation Management and Business in Wine Tourism and Wine Culture. Supported by councilman Adrilles Jorge, this initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between public authorities and private enterprise to foster a more favorable environment for wine culture and market development in Brazil.

The new law sets guidelines for modernizing wine culture and tourism by integrating human development and behavioral analysis into public policy. The forum provided technical and scientific support for this legislative effort by bringing together stakeholders from across the sector.

Brazilian wineries such as Casa Valduga, Góes, Innvernia, and Guaspari participated in the event. They offered tastings of selected wines to guests and took part in a panel on the challenges facing wine tourism in Brazil. Their involvement underscored the growing importance of domestic wine production and highlighted opportunities for greater cooperation among producers, government agencies, and industry organizations.

A key topic that drew significant attention was the issue of counterfeit and illegal alcohol sales. Participants discussed modern traceability solutions using high-tech seals on bottles to combat crime and protect legitimate producers.

WineX Tomorrow positioned itself as a platform for strategic discussion within the sector. By hosting this forum, São Paulo reinforced its role as a Latin American hub for innovation in wine policy and business. The event expanded dialogue among producers, experts, and new players in the wine ecosystem.
