The Amsterdam Wine Festival has announced the first wineries confirmed for its upcoming edition, scheduled to take place from March 26 to 29 at the Kromhouthal venue in Amsterdam. The event focuses on wines from the Southern Hemisphere and will allow visitors to explore labels from countries including Argentina, Chile, Australia, Peru, Uruguay, South Africa, and New Zealand.
Among the Argentine producers, Bodegas Salentein will participate with wines from the Uco Valley. The winery, located at elevations reaching up to 1,700 meters, takes advantage of the climate conditions of the Andes Mountains to produce wines known for freshness and depth. Salentein has gained international attention not only for its wines but also for the architecture of its winery and its focus on quality in its cuvées.
From Chile, Viña Santa Rita will represent the country's long winemaking tradition. Founded in 1880 in Alto Jahuel, in the Maipo Valley, Santa Rita has more than 140 years of history and operates one of the oldest wineries in Chile. Its wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, have received international recognition while maintaining the character associated with the Maipo Valley.
Australia will be represented by Yalumba, the country's oldest family-owned winery. Established in 1849 in the Barossa Valley, Yalumba is known for its experience producing Shiraz and Riesling. The winery is also one of the few in the world that maintains its own cooperage, allowing it to oversee the production of oak barrels used to age its wines.
Peru will also be present through Intipalka, a winery located in the Ica Valley at the foothills of the Andes. The region's dry climate, abundant sunshine, and cool nights create favorable conditions for producing concentrated grapes and wines with ripe fruit character and freshness. Intipalka works with varieties such as Malbec, Tannat, and Torrontés.
Uruguay will be represented by three family wineries. Antigua Bodega, which has produced wine since 1928 in Canelones, works with estate vineyards. Pizzorno brings four generations of winemaking experience and focuses strongly on the Tannat grape. El Capricho produces wines in small quantities and ages them in wood.
The festival offers individual tickets at a reduced price as well as a group promotion that allows visitors to purchase five tickets for the price of four. In collaboration with the WTOL-Academy, the program will also include masterclasses and tastings designed for visitors who want to deepen their understanding of wines, wine regions, and traditional pairings such as oysters and artisan cheeses.
The Amsterdam Wine Festival continues to position itself as a meeting point for enthusiasts and professionals interested in exploring the diversity of wines from the Southern Hemisphere while enjoying an environment dedicated to wine culture.
